Tablets for a child

Dr prescribes Amoxil syrup for a 3 year old child. As I was mixing the antibiotic with water, the father asks me: "Is it ok if you give him tablets instead?"
Me: "The doctor prescribed syrup. Can he actually take tablets?"
Him: "I'm not sure. I dunno."
Me: "How old is he?"
Him: "3 years old."
Me: "Well syrup would be more suitable for a 3 year old then. He might not know how to swallow tablets at such a young age."
Him: "Oh ok then."

So antibiotic is mixed and then tell him to use 5ml three times daily until finished.
Him: "How long can I actually keep this syrup for?"
Me: "Expiry date would be 14 days from today, so after 14 days you will have to throw it out."
Him: "14 days!!! only!!! don't you have anything longer?? I don't want this!"
Me: "Well if you think about it, you're giving him 5ml three times a day. That's 15ml a day. The bottle only has 100ml which means it will only last you 7 days anyway."
Him: "Oh I seeeee......."

Firstly i have no idea why he requested tablets for his 3yo kid if he doesn't even know if he can swallow it. And secondly, before over-reacting and thinking that I ripped him off with a 'short-dated' product, just look at how big the bottle is and how much you need to give per day.
